BRANCH LOCATION AND HOURS

+ Do you offer limited contact vehicle collection and return?

All vehicles must be picked up and dropped off during the opening hours of your Cheapa Campa branch. Please reach out to our friendly team if you’re unable to make it in time.

To aid with social distancing and reduce contact with our team while COVID-19 is a health concern, Cheapa Campa have introduced limited contact vehicle collection processes. Our rental agreement and other documentation can be emailed to guests and our How To videos provide a great overview of how to use your camper. Be sure to download the ApolloConnect app to access this handy info while on the road.

+ What are the branch opening hours and locations?

CLICK HERE for all of our Cheapa Campa locations. For opening days and hours go to the location page of your Cheapa Campa branch.

+ How do I get to the branch?

Cheapa Campa branches are conveniently located near major cities and airports which makes them easy to find and convenient for pick up and drop off of your motorhome or camper. You can arrange transport to our branches using taxi, Uber or public transport. CLICK HERE to find out the exact address of your Cheapa Campa branch.

+ Are there any restrictions on where I can drive?

At Cheapa Campa, we want you to stay safe on your road trip. All 2WD rental vehicles must stay on sealed roads. The only exception to this policy is well maintained access roads that are shorter than 10kms and lead to a recognised campground. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for more information about travel restrictions that apply.

There are restrictions on where you can drive our 4WD vehicles in Australia and we recommend that you always drive to the conditions and within your experience level. There are also certain roads that require you to obtain permission from Cheapa Campa before travelling on them as well as roads that are completely off limits.

+ What type of payments do you accept in your branch?

All Cheapa Campa branches accept credit card or debit card for rental charges. Cash payments are not accepted.

Your vehicle bond can only be paid by credit card. You cannot pay your bond using a prepaid card.

+ Do you allow pick up or drop off outside of branch hours?

All guests are required to pick up and drop off during the hours specified for each branch.

DRIVER LICENCE

+ How old do I need to be to drive a Cheapa Campa motorhome or camper?

Drivers must be 21 years to hire a Cheapa Campa campervan or motorhome.

+ Do all drivers need to be present at the depot during pick up?

All drivers are required to show their driver licence to the branch, in person, prior to driving the vehicle. We prefer that drivers show their licence at pick up, however if that’s not possible, drivers may visit the branch prior to pick up and show their driver licence to a Cheapa Campa team member.

+ What type of driver licence do I need?

A current and full motor vehicle driver licence is required to be shown at pick up and the driver must be present at pick-up. If the driver licence is not in English then we require an accredited English translation or an International Driver Permit, along with your driver's licence. We must sight both at pick-up otherwise we cannot release the vehicle.

All drivers must be aged 21 to be presented along with the original driver's licence. The driver licence must be valid for the entire duration of your vehicle rental.

VEHICLES

+ Can I bring my bike?

Our motorhomes and campervans don’t have bike racks. Bikes may be stored inside the motorhome, however we request that bikes are stored in bike bags to avoid any damage to the interior of the motorhome.

+ How long does the battery system last?

The battery system will provide power for between 12 - 20 hours when fully charged depending on use.

Our vehicles operate on ancillary battery systems which power internal appliances such as the fridge, lights, media player and water pump.

The batteries only recharge when connected to mains power or will trickle charge when driving the vehicle. We recommend that the vehicle is plugged into Mains power every 2 nights. Idling the engine won't provide enough power to recharge the house battery.

When you are connected, all equipment automatically runs on mains power rather than the battery. Appliances such as the microwave, rear air-conditioning and power points only run on mains power. Television may run either on 240v (mains power) or 12v (battery power).

For the 12 Volt system to work, the 12 Volt main switch must be in the 'on' position. All vehicles can be connected to 240 Volt mains power via the supplied 15 Amp extension lead with a large earth pin. All approved caravan park circuits are rated at 15 amps.

+ Can I request a specific layout or vehicle length?

Vehicles can be requested by vehicle category, however we cannot guarantee a particular vehicle layout, make or model.

+ Will my vehicle be automatic or manual transmission?

All 2WD vehicles for Cheapa Campa are automatic transmission. 4WD vehicles are manual. Please refer to the vehicle description to check whether your preferred vehicle is automatic or manual.

+ Are dogs allowed to travel in the vehicle?

At Cheapa Campa, we’re happy for your pet dog to go on holiday with you but there is a pet cleaning fee of $250 if picking up on or before 31 March 2024. Picking up on or after 1 April 2024 is a pet cleaning fee of $299. For more information visit here

+ Do your motorhomes & campervans have Wi-Fi?

Our vehicles do not come with Wi-Fi.

+ How much do your vehicles weigh?

All Cheapa Campa motorhomes and campers are less than 4.5 tonnes and can be driven by overseas licence holders.

+ Do I have to pay per kilometre (km)?

Most of the 2WD motorhomes and campervan rentals come with unlimited kilometres. 4WD vehicles and relocations have a daily kilometre allowance. For more info on this, please see our terms & conditions.

VEHICLE INCLUSIONS

+ Do I have to pay a bond when hiring?

Yes. Should you choose standard liability or liability reduction option 1, the bond will be debited and a bond administration fee will apply. The bond can range from $1,500 to $8,000. Please review our liability reduction options, which can be found in our terms and conditions.

If you have chosen liability reduction option 2 (VIP cover), a credit card imprint of $100-$300 will occur at time of pickup. This means that the relevant amount will be “held” from your funds without being debited from your account.

You are welcome to call us or email us and we will be in touch to explain this further.

Yes, all vehicles are supplied with a full gas bottle for heating, water and cooking. Payment is required at time of pick-up, you may return the gas bottle empty. If you purchase the Value Pack, the gas bottle is included.

+ What is liability reduction?

Liability means the state of being legally responsible for something. With our vehicles, you are liable up to your chosen liability in the event of an incident or accident, regardless of fault and provided you do not breach the terms and conditions of hire.

Our reservations team would be happy to further explain this to you. You are welcome to call us or email us with your phone number and we will give you a call.

PLACES TO STAY

+ Where can we camp at night?

We strongly recommend you stay at a campground, holiday park or RV/caravan park. RV/caravan parks offer excellent recreational opportunities, plus essential shower and toilet facilities. Powered sites enable you to connect your vehicle to electricity.

Covid-19 update: With the presence of Covid-19, each state in Australia has its own set of guidelines and restrictions in relation to campgrounds and caravan parks. Please follow government advice and check with individual parks regarding whether they can offer you a safe place to stay at this time.

ApolloConnect allows you to search and book campgrounds/holiday parks while on the road, as well as access great deals on local attractions.

+ How often should I take a break?

We encourage you to always allow extra time for reaching your destination. Please take a break from driving every 2 hours.

+ Do I have to pay to use toll roads in Australia?

When driving a rental vehicle in Australia, you are responsible for paying toll fees, so it is important to be aware of these roads before you travel. Fees and charges to travel via toll roads vary by state. You are likely to pass through toll roads if you are driving your campervan through metropolitan Queensland, New South Wales or Victoria.

Cheapa Campa will pass on any charges you receive for traffic infringements, toll ways or parking fines during your road trip. A fee of $75 per toll fine received may be charged to cover associated administration costs. We recommend purchasing our toll package which can be viewed in the terms and conditions.
