Brisbane is known for its year round sunshine, laidback lifestyle and its jam-packed cultural events calendar. It’s also the perfect place to start a road trip considering it’s surrounded by so many world-class holiday destinations and beaches. The Brisbane Cheapa Campa branch is very easy to access since it’s just 7km from Brisbane Airport and 12km from Brisbane CBD.

Things to do in Brisbane

Head to the Kangaroo Point Cliffs which are located just outside of the CBD and offer stunning views of the city and the Brisbane River. You can do a walking circuit around the cliffs which is around 5km or you can go to the cliffs at night and watch as the city lights up. There’s public BBQs dotted around the cliffs too so you can cook up some snags or burgers and have dinner with a view!

South Bank Parklands is another part of Brisbane that we definitely recommend visiting. Less than a 20 minute walk from the CBD you can take a stroll through the lush South Bank Parklands and enjoy the laid back atmosphere. We recommend you take a picnic blanket with you so you can lounge on the grass by the river while soaking up the views. There are heaps of cafes, bars and restaurants to be found here and you can even go for a spin on the Wheel of Brisbane to get a birds eye view of Brisbane.

The Gold Coast

An hour south of Brisbane you’ll find the world famous Gold Coast full of sea, sand, amazing surfing spots, beach towns and lots of nightlife. The Gold Coast has such a diverse range of beaches and towns so you’re guaranteed to find the perfect spot for you. If you like a bit of hustle and bustle, stop by Surfers Paradise which is a tourist favourite and, of course, a great spot for surfing. Alternatively, if you prefer more of a chilled out vibe you can head to Burleigh Heads or Broadbeach.

While at the Gold Coast we also recommend hopping into your campervan and taking a drive into the green, sub tropical oasis that is the Gold Coast Hinterland. And don’t forget about the family-friendly theme parks and water parks!

Pacific Coast Way

Brisbane is the perfect place to begin an epic road trip up the coast of Queensland. After starting in Queensland’s capital, you can start heading north with Port Douglas as your final destination. Stop along the way in the Sunshine Coast, the Bundaberg region and the Capricorn Coast. And of course, the Pacific Coast Way road trip wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the Whitsundays and a Great Barrier Reef experience or two.
