Darwin is the Capital of the Northern Territory and it’s the perfect place to start if you want to embark on a Top End adventure. If you’re keen to head to the more remote parts of the NT we recommend opting for a 4WD camper. Before you head off on your road trip though, there’s plenty to see and do around Darwin itself. From stunning sunsets, night markets by the ocean and a hue range of delicious cuisines, there’s something for everyone in Darwin.

The Cheapa Campa Darwin branch is conveniently located less than 10km from the airport and just over 7km from the city making it super convenient to hire your motorhome, campervan or 4WD campervan.

Things to do in Darwin

If you enjoy a bit of adventure and a tropical outdoor lifestyle, you’re guaranteed to fall in love with Darwin. From waterfalls, swimming holes, beaches and national parks there’s no shortage of things to do in Darwin. Here are some of our favourites:

Kakadu National Park

Darwin is considered the gateway into Kakadu National Park which is known for its vast expanses of wilderness and nature reserves. Hike across the rugged landscape, enjoy the cascading waterfalls and learn about the oldest living culture on earth through the locals and the 5,000 different Aboriginal rock art sites across the national park.

Litchfield National Park

Located just a 90 minute drive from Darwin city, Litchfield is another beautiful national park brimming with nature and wildlife. Due to the significance of cultural and natural values, Litchfield is a World Heritage Listed site and we recommend spending the day walking the various trails and cooling off in swimming holes.

Sunset Markets

With over 200 stalls, the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets perfectly represent the cultural melting pot that is Darwin. With various cuisines, art, jewellery and services available at the markets you’re bound to find something you love.
